An outstanding concert
Outstanding in many regards
First, for the original idea behind it
Whereas jazz pianists quite frequently
have a classical training and classical pianists often
venture into playing jazz, it is a rare feat to get a
classical pianist and a jazz pianist together on the
same stage and to hear them perform a series of pieces
from classical music and from the world of jazz. Each
artist brings their own training, experience and
sensitivity to a shared creation.
Second, for the youth and excellence of
Fanny AZZURO, 22 years of age, has
performed brilliantly at many concerts, in particular in
her native Provence while continuing her studies at the
Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris.
Amongst the many prizes and rewards she has obtained,
the most recent one is the prestigious award of the
SACEM prize of the International Piano Campus
competition which she won together with honours for the
best contemporary interpretation.
Tigran HAMASYAN, at 21 performs in
clubs and music festivals all over the globe.
He is from Armenian origins and is
currently based in the living heart of jazz, New York.
Also the recipient of numerous prizes, he won the most
prestigious prize of the Thelonius Monk academy which he
obtained in 2006, at the age of just 18.
His third record, Arrata Rebirth was
released in February 2009.
And last, for the real enthusiasm of both
In October 2009 Fanny and Tigran got
together at the initiative of two associations, the Blue
Buëch and Musique au Coeur des Baronnies who are the
initiators of this project. They were immediately taken
by the concept and with great gusto launched into its
realization by setting up the programme and meeting
regularly in Paris to rehearse.
The second of May could well be a
milestone in their already promising careers..
Whether you are a jazz fan, a lover of
classical music, or both, this is an event not to be
